Four Theives Herbal Vinegar

A versitile household essential, sipped as a tonic or used topically as an insect repellant, it works as a household disinfectant and was also used in hoodoo magic practices as a protection aid.


Four theives vinegar is an ancient herbal remedy made famous by theives in france who used the antiseptic properties contained within the herbs and vinegar to steer clear of the black plague. Four theives retained the name and is a remedy that has been passed down for centuries


Herbal and heady the scent is bareable and medicinal. Sipped as a tonic daily 1 tsp 3 times per day can function as a vermifuge or parisite reppelant due to the wormwood, the rosemary and peppermint make an excellent digestive aid and the lavender is highly antimicrobial and helps to prevent bloating. The cinamon helps to regulate blood sugar too.


Herbal Vinegar

Hipocrates the father of medicine used herbal vinegars to treat wounds, boils and scrapes, insect bites and as a gargle for sore throats and fungal infections. Herbal vinegars are known as acetracts derived from the latin word for vinegar. Preperations are made with dried or fresh herbs and use vinegar as the medium to bring out the constitiuents of the herbs.


 

How to make Four Theives Herbal Vinegar

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp each of dried sage, lavender, pepermint and rosemary

  • 1 tbsp chopped garlic

  • 1/2 tsp wormwood

  • 2 bay leaves

  • 1 stick of cinnamon

  • 5 cloves

  • 600ml apple cider vinegar

Method

  1. Place all ingredients in a large mason jar and allow to maccerate for 2-6 weeks shaking the ingredients at least weekly.

  2. strain and add into bottles with lids

  3. store in a cool dry place
